363 DAYS IN VIETNAM: A Memoir of Howitzers, Hook-ups & Screw-ups

THE UNTOLD WAR EXPERIENCE. When it comes to the Vietnam War, most people rely on movies, TV shows, documentaries, and personal memoirs for their knowledge. However, many of these sources primarily focus on the experiences of infantrymen and pilots, who actually made up less than 20% of the soldiers in Vietnam. In a war without clearly defined front lines, anyone on the ground could suddenly find themselves in mortal danger.

The other 80% of Vietnam veterans have stories to tell as well, even if they may not fit the traditional image of "war stories." Each of us had unique experiences that are both captivating and diverse. As a veteran myself, I delved into writing about my time in Vietnam and found that memories and narratives poured out of me like a cascade of falling dominoes.

In recounting my experiences, I have aimed for authenticity without delving into vulgarity. However, it is impossible to discuss my time in Vietnam without touching on the reality of sex, drugs, and gore that were a part of that era. My story is a deeply personal one, occasionally controversial, and at times horrifying. Yet, it is also informative, entertaining, and even humorous.

Everything I write is true - no embellishments, no fabrications. While my story may seem unconventional and shocking to some, there are countless other non-infantry Vietnam veterans who faced similar trials, tribulations, and triumphs. When these stories are combined with the broader narrative of the Vietnam War, they paint a more complete picture of the tragic conflict that took place.
